The Autism Society, Tidewater Virginia Resource Center is a place for all affected by autism where you can learn and grow in a supportive environment. September 2008 was the grand opening of the center. The following resources are available in the Resource Center:
• Lending Library accessible to parents and educators free of charge. Books, DVD/video, and CDs are available
to check out on a monthly basis. With the continuous strides being made in the autism community, we
strive to keep the library current with the latest information on autism research, methodologies, behavioral
strategies, biomedical interventions etc. Click

• Two computer stations with internet access, color printer, and specialized software including Boardmaker, to make
and take materials to support loved ones living with ASD within the community.
• Family-to-Family Workshops are hosted in the resource center with our new flat screen television. This
series of workshops are for family members, caregivers, tutors or others interested in learning effective strategies
for daily living skills, playing, communicating and interacting with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Participants will engage in hands-on learning. Workshop materials are free of charge.
• Literature Display. A comprehensive section dedicated to providing information including but not limited to autism f
friendly activities/outings,autism research, advocacy, programs, and services.
